This fall I am teaching a first semester Spanish course. It’s a multi-section course with multiple instructors. I use the prescribed textbook, course syllabus, and assessments. So, I don’t have a lot of freedom in what I teach or when. However, I can still make good choices for my students and highlight authentic resources, use comprehensible Spanish at least 90% of the time, and include critical cultural components. To that end, I am blogging about all the materials I am developing for my students this year. All of these materials will be supplements to the traditional text, and I hope they will improve my students’ chances of acquiring lots of Spanish and developing critical cultural awareness in their first semester of study!
My blog posts all include editable, downloadable slides and handouts that I am happy for you to take, improve, and use with your own students! Just keep in mind my Creative Commons license (you can learn more at the bottom of this page) that says that you are free to use my materials but if you re-share my materials or your versions of my materials, do not charge for them.
This page is a compilation of all the blog posts and materials I have posted and will post about my Span 101 course. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out here or on Twitter @staceymargarita.
